Alaska Industrial Hardware is seeking an Assistant Manager-In-Training for its retail locations, offering a full-time, hourly position with benefits such as medical, dental, PTO, and 401K. This role offers hands-on training in managing store operations, recruiting, coaching employees, and driving sales success. Candidates should have a strong customer service background, basic math and communication skills, and be willing to relocate as needed. Previous retail management or sales experience, along with knowledge of hardware or construction, is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn to Supervise and manage all aspects of daily store operations under the guidance of management
- Learn how to assist in the planning, organizing, and achieving short and long-term goals
- Learn how to assist in recruiting and hiring high caliber employees for all store positions
- Learn how to provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to all employees
- Learn to assist in training and developing a successful sales team
- Effectively communicate all store needs and progress to Store Manager
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6-month minimum of AIH work history
- Proven track record of excellent attendance
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills required
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills needed
- Completed all assigned training programs and product curriculums
- Must be willing to permanently transfer locations as management needs arise
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experienced background in Microsoft Applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be experienced in merchandising for profit, sales, and image
- Proficient in the Atlas ERP network, with special emphasis on the point-of-sale systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may change without notices, including weekends, evenings, & holidays
Preferred
- Prior management experience in a retail environment
- A background in construction, mechanics, or hardware
- Knowledge and understanding of loss prevention
- Prior experience with inventory control
- 6 -12 months of sales experience
- Forklift certification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures for retail operations.
- Assist in maintaining store conditions to meet or exceed standards.
- Delegate, guide, and provide daily leadership to all employees

- Securely handle and control all cash funds
