We are looking for a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and / or PMHNP to join our team. We are also interested in master’s level graduates who are associate licensure eligible ( MFT-A, PA ).

We use the Humanistic model including Existential Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and The Enneagram in a unique way to treat couples, families, and individuals. Our clinic uses a three-prong approach to therapy of Service, Research, and Education to utilize the Humanistic models of treating our Alaska people.

At AKMFT your role would be to :

  • Provide individual, couple, family, and group therapy to clients using the specific Humanistic models listed above.
  • Diagnose and write therapeutic notes in accordance with clinic guidelines.
  • Participate in clinic wide treatment team meetings to discuss cases and improve skills.
  • Attend clinic provided trainings to improve therapeutic skills and capabilities.

  • Required qualifications for this position include :

  • Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, or a related mental health degree. If you are a student who will graduate with a degree soon, please apply! If you have talent and drive, we want you on board regardless of experience.
  • One of the following State of Alaska licenses : LMFT, MFT-A, Psychologist, or Psychological Associate. We are willing to take someone who is working on obtaining their license, post graduate earning hours for permanent license. If you don’t have a license, we would be happy to help you obtain one.
  • Experience with or desire to learn and practice Emotionally Focused Therapy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of clients and families.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of mental health counseling and techniques of observing and assessing behavior.
