Summary

Under general direction from the Manager of Credentialing, the Provider Onboarding Specialist support all credentialed and privileged providers, works closely with the Service Center Medical Directors and Medical Staff Office Director to ensure successful completion of all on-boarding AND Off-boarding requirements for Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) providers.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintain processes for onboarding/off-boarding in collaboration with all ANMC departments.
  • Coordinates with Medical Staff Office to establish policies and procedures for provider onboarding/ off-boarding.
  • Creates and maintain a tracking system for all onboarding/off-boarding processes.
  • Ensures necessary processes are completed before a new provide begins or ends employment at ANMC, in collaboration with appropriate all departments.
  • Serves as the primary contact between ANMC and incoming providers from point of hire through first week of work on the floor or in the clinic.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and problem solver, by creating innovating onboarding/off-boarding solutions for multiple customer groups and changing business needs.
  • Assists providers with scheduling of all required appointments for onboarding and training.
  • Assist all ANMC departments with up-to-date information from new providers and supports new providers in meeting required deadlines for onboarding.
  • Acts as a resource for providers and their families with travel and housing arrangements for relocation to Alaska.
  • Provides continual process improvement evaluation of onboarding and off-boarding.
  • Ensures efficient and positive experience for all incoming/outgoing providers.
  • Maintains consistent communication with the Service Center Medical Directors and Medical Staff Office Director.
  • Other activities as directed in support of efficient operation of the onboarding and off-boarding experience for providers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Tribal law, regulations, rules, policies and processes. Including substantial knowledge of relevant specialized fields such as Federal Indian law and self-determination/self-governance, health law, and employment law.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:
  • An Associate’s degree in business, healthcare administration, healthcare education, or related field with at least four years of experience in customer services, Alaska Native Tribal Health, coordinator/HR/Concierge, project management, or office management. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Minimum Experience Qualification

  • Non-supervisory - Four (4) years professional work experience in health care system, health related program development, program coordination, program implementation and evaluation. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Education Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, healthcare education, or related field.

Preferred Experience Qualification

  • Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System and in customer service.

Additional Requirements

  • May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
  • May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.
