Principal Responsibility:  The Digital Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for collaborating with the Marketing Manager for the advertising and marketing activities of APAA. The Digital Marketing Specialist assists in creating, editing, and producing photo/video content for social media. They collaborate with the Marketing Manager to maintain a unified voice across social media channels. They are responsible for capturing, and crafting engaging social media content and other strategies to help drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and sales.


Position is Hourly, non-exempt Reports to: Marketing Manager

Position Supports: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Auction Curator (COO), Chief Editor


The Marketing Specialist is Responsible For:

  1. Create content in various formats by interacting with team members, buyers, sellers, inventory for sale, vendors, and other networking connections.
  2. Video production and editing to ensure videos are optimized on different social media platforms, websites, and email.
  3. Collaboration in developing marketing and sales campaigns, and analyzing performance data to optimize strategies for better results.
  4. Work with the marketing team to ensure social media, calendars, and metrics are captured and sent to the Marketing Manager.
  5. Design social media posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz around new auctions.
  6. Integrate marketing and sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, evaluating advertisements, and participating in presentations and trade shows.
  7. Identifies marketing opportunities by understanding consumer requirements.
  8. Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities, as well as holidays, special events, and anniversaries.
  9. Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, promotions, competitions, and campaigns.
  10. Develop and maintain an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.   


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  1. Demonstrate ability to navigate programs like Photoshop, Adobe Premier, and CapCut
  2. Proven experience in video production, editing, and social media content creation.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of Meta products including Facebook, Instagram, and Meta Ads.
  4. Ability to use other social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.
  5. Have excellent knowledge of marketing computer software, Dropbox, and online applications (CRM tools, Online analytics, Google AdWords, etc.).
  6. Proven experience in marketing & social media.
  7. Strong interpersonal communication, multi-tasking, people skills, and adherence to deadlines.
  8. Good understanding of marketing principles with strong interpersonal skills.
  9. Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach.
  10. Good knowledge of market research techniques and databases.
  11. BS/BA in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, or relevant fields is preferred, but optional. 
  12. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to confidentially process and maintain data with attention to detail.
  13. Ability to maintain a positive, supportive, solution-focused attitude.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in marketing, business, or related field preferred, but not required. 
  2. Proficiency with online marketing and social media strategy.
  3. Proven success in designing interactive applications and networking platforms.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace Applications.
  5. Valid Alaska Driver’s license
  6. Ability to pass a background and reference check.

The work environment characteristics described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.  APAA is a locally grown and Alaskan-owned small business that maintains high standards within a fast-paced environment that requires regular attendance and attention to multiple ongoing tasks that may overlap. Occasional overtime is required.

Schedule: M-F, 9a-6p, 1-Hour Unpaid Break for an 8-Hour Shift 

Experience: MS Office/Google Workspace applications for one year (Preferred)
