Salary : $16.00 - $18.00 DOE
Principal Responsibility : The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval, reviewing outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations documenting damages to inventory, and managing insurance claims relating to shipping.
Position is : Hourly Position Reports to : Shipping Manager
Position Supports : Loadouts Department, COO / Auction Curator
The Shipping Coordinator is Responsible For
1. Maintain accurate and timely communications and records with buyers regarding their requesting shipping, items damaged that need insurance claims filed and delayed or lost packages.
2. Package items for shipping to ensure they do not incur damage during transport.
3. Print and adhere the appropriate shipping labels to the packages and assess the correct shipping charge to each customer.
4. Schedule shipping for packages to the required carriers and maintain a tracking system for outgoing packages.
5. Maintain shipping supplies inventory.
6. Become familiar with what types of inventories can and cant be shipped and where they can and cant be shipped to.
7. Utilize appropriate shipping methods, vendors, software, and shipping service providers to reduce costs and increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
8. Facilitate the shipping insurance process.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to complete various activities in the department that may require hours of lifting, sorting, standing, sitting, and carrying.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs and climb ladders.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.alone, or greater weights with assistance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
1. Receive and sort incoming consigned inventory.
2. Box or containerize inventory by the seller.
3. Store inventory on designated shelves.
4. Good written and verbal communication skills.
5. Strong sense of time organization and urgency.
6. Able to work independently and within a team.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Two years shipping operations-related experience is preferred but not required.
2. Ability to communicate effectively.
3. Ability to answer phones and respond to customer concerns professionally.
4. Ability to read and interpret documents and craft letters, memoranda, invoices, company policies, and various.
5. Proficiency in MS Office and / or Google Workspace Applications.
6. Valid Alaska Drivers license.
7. Ability to pass a background and reference check.
