In this role:
- Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensures adherence to standards of care.
- Support the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations and designations.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
- Supervise admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
- Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments. Ensures staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
- Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure patient and family needs are assessed and met.
- Model, promote, and hold staff accountable for providing consistent, positive interactions that create an unparalleled patient experience.
- Ensure compliance with evidence-based practices that enhance patient experience and customer service.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and other leaders to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
- Support a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
- Lead in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Implements evidence- based employee engagement practices.
- Identify development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams. Provides coaching, feedback and training to improve performance.
- Participate in interviews, selection, training, and evaluation of staff including direct and ongoing supervision, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively superior organization.
- Assume responsibility for resolving and/or channeling employee grievances, disputes, or concerns according to appropriate procedures.
- Represent the organization positively within the community; participates in company-supported community/patient events and in-services.
- Assist with staff scheduling. Maintains staffing in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Support proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Practice and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
- Current licensure in Alaska as a Registered Nurse.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Labor & Delivery unit.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS), American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred. Must obtain NRP certification within 90 days from date of hire and then maintain certification.
- STABLE (preferred but not required)
