Job Summary And Qualifications
Patient Care Technician assists patients with activities of daily living, and assists in maintenance of a safe, clean and age appropriate environment under the direction and supervision of the Nurse. Provides care to meet the patient/family’s, physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and cultural needs with the RN/LPN’s assistance. Performs as directed, those tasks, which will assist the RN or LPN in providing patient care based upon the Department’s standard of practice and standard of care and within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act. Also performs general clerical duties accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Key Interactions
The PCT interacts with staff at all facility levels, physicians and their teams, volunteers, patients, and visitors, ensuring that their interactions with stakeholders are aligned with business goals, customer needs and hospital policies. The PCT works with all patient populations (Patients with communication needs, patients in isolation, patients under precaution, patients in custody) and ages (adolescent, adult, geriatric).

- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required
- Emergency Medical Technician or State of Alaska Certified Nursing Assistant Certification preferred
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Six (6) months of CNA experience in acute care setting preferred
- Knowledge of State of Alaska Law, Nurse Practice Act, Federal/CMS regulations and Joint Commission Standards
- Skills: Organizational, Verbal/Follow verbal instructions, Interpersonal, Customer Relations, Mathematical, Analytical, Grammar/Spelling, Read/Comprehend/Follow written instructions, Transcription of orders, Computer, Management/Planning skills, Make decisions under pressure, handle multiple priorities, work alone, work in areas that are confined and/or crowded, attention to detail,
