About the Role
As the Health & Safety Programs Manager, you’ll lead initiatives to enhance occupational health and safety throughout Alaska. Reporting to the Executive Director, you’ll oversee program development, facilitate training, and work directly with stakeholders to address safety challenges. This role is perfect for someone with technical safety expertise, project management skills, and a passion for worker wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Develop and manage health and safety programs aligned with ASA’s mission. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Training & Expertise: Deliver engaging training sessions, create innovative safety materials, and serve as a resource for industry best practices.
- Advocacy: Champion worker health and safety through initiatives that drive statewide awareness and engagement.
- Project Management: Oversee budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful program outcomes.
- Collaboration: Build and maintain partnerships with local and national organizations to amplify ASA’s impact.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Safety Expertise: Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, MSHA, EPA).
- Engaging Trainer: Experience delivering health and safety training to diverse audiences.
- Project Manager Extraordinaire: Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative Leader: A team player with excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Passion for Impact: A deep commitment to advancing health and safety across Alaska.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Alaska’s oil and gas, construction, maritime, or mining industries.
- Certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, CHST, OHST, SMS).
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
- Willing to learn about grant writing and program funding.
