What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oiler - Oil Lube Technician position at Alaska Scrap & Recycling?
Alaska Scrap & Recycling in Anchorage is currently looking for an OILER to join our team!
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, Full Time 40 hours per week. Must be willing to work over time when needed.
Pay: Up to $26.35 per hour depending on knowledge, skills, and experience plus additional $1.80 per hour medical benefit (see Benefits below for details)
Benefits Include:
- PTO - 2 weeks (80 hours) per year

- Medical Benefit - $1.80 per hour for every Regular Hour, PTO Hour and Holiday Hour earned & paid per pay period, up to a maximum of 80 hours & $144.00 per paid period.
Main Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performing preventative maintenance and safety inspections on Company vehicles, equipment and machinery including the following items
- Parts runner; ordering, picking up and delivering parts and materials as needed
- Completing work orders daily
- Maintaining documents and reports for maintenance intervals for all vehicles and equipment
- Selecting appropriate lubricants for machinery
- Greasing, oil changes, and filter changes
- Maintaining oil supply room and collection site
- Performing mechanical maintenance and repairs on vehicles and heavy equipment which may include; installing and servicing batteries, brakes, replacing air cleaners, replacing hoses, mechanical troubleshooting and repairs to vehicles and equipment
- Changing, repairing, and replacing tires as needed
- Providing support service to the equipment mechanic, as needed
- Completing work orders daily
- Routine housekeeping and final clean-up of work area
- Recommending improvements and modifications
- Processing oil samples for various lubrication and hydraulic systems for analysis, tracking and records as directed by mechanic/supervisor
Required:
- Valid class D driver’s license
- Dot Medical card or able to obtain within 90 days of employment
- Acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) (NO DUI's/OUI's and no more than 2 traffic violations in past 2 years)
Preferred Skills & Knowledge:
- Prefer work experience in an automotive or heavy equipment repair shop
- Prior maintenance experience a plus
- General lubrication requirements
- The use of basic hand and air tools
- Working knowledge on a variety of motorized vehicles (e.g. light vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, and construction type equipment)
- Machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
