We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will teach science courses aligned with the Alaska Science Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) , fostering inquiry-based learning and scientific literacy among students in grades 7-12 . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education, a commitment to student success, and the ability to create engaging and rigorous learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement science curricula that align with Alaska Science Standards and NGSS , ensuring students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Teach a variety of science courses, such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and Earth Science , adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Utilize hands-on experiments, technology, and real-world applications to enhance student understanding and engagement.
- Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
- Integrate STEM activities, project-based learning, and inquiry-based instruction into the curriculum.
- Support students in scientific research projects, competitions, and extracurricular STEM activities .
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments .
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and promote interest in science careers.
- Stay updated on current best practices, scientific advancements, and educational technology to continuously improve instruction.
