Job Summary :
The High School English and Social Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and rigorous instruction in English language arts and social studies to high school students. This position requires the development of lesson plans that align with Alaska State Standards, fostering critical thinking and communication skills, and integrating culturally relevant materials that reflect the heritage and history of the region, particularly Indigenous perspectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Plan, develop, and implement instructional programs in English and Social Studies that adhere to Alaska State Standards.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that meets the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize differentiated instruction and assessment strategies to meet students' varied learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate Indigenous perspectives and local history into the curriculum to enhance cultural relevance and student engagement.
- Develop and assess student work, providing timely feedback to support academic growth.
- Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and progress reports.
- Collaborate with other educators, staff, and community members to enhance student learning experiences.
