JOB TITLE : Breakfast Cook at our Kenai Riverside Lodge
JOB OBJECTIVE : This position supports the Lead Breakfast Cook 3x a week, and takes lead of the breakfast shift by cooking and presenting upscale buffet-style breakfasts 2x a week. It requires someone who is willing to get up early to start their breakfast shift as early as 2 am. Responsibilities include putting breakfast out on time, quality control of food, oversight of meal preparation, baking, serving and providing excellent guest service. A guest-oriented attitude is a must as you will be the first person greeting our guests each day. Previous cooking experience required.
COMPENSATION : This position pays $17.00-$20.00 / hour depending on experience, and offers free food and housing. Housing includes individual canvas and wood wall tent w / communal amenities on site of main lodge, on the Kenai River.
SCHEDULING : This position is regularly scheduled for 40 hour work weeks. Overtime is paid at 1.5x its regular hourly rate. This role is based on a 5 day work week with 2 consecutive days off.
REPORTS TO : Food and Beverage Manager and Lead Breakfast Cook
LOCATION : Kenai Riverside Lodge; on the Kenai River, Cooper Landing, Alaska. Staff members will fly (if not driving) into Ted Stevens Airport in Anchorage, Alaska where an Alaska Wildland Adventures’ manager or team member will provide transportation to the lodge. We also provide transportation back to the airport at the end of the season.
OUR SEASON : We ask applicants to be available for our entire operation season, from mid-May to mid-September.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR :
- Cook and serve high-quality hot & continental buffet breakfasts.
- Able to work within a team structure and also independently in different roles and in a flexible manner to accomplish a variety of tasks, including but not limited to : food preparation, packing, housekeeping, serving, and guest service.
- Lead daily operations, menu, tasking, and presentation for breakfast meal service
- Create a varied daily breakfast menu that caters to a wide range of palates.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the lodge and kitchen during breakfast hours.
- Cater to various guest dietary requirements and any other guest requests in an enthusiastic manner.
- Anticipate guest needs for both food and service.
- Provide punctual breakfasts and showcase a sense of urgency when serving guests.
- Wash all dishes, glassware, cookware, and serving ware used during breakfast service.
- Ensure proper food practices and safety, including first in, first out.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Interact with guests, guides, and other staff in a respectful manner.
- Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact.
