Job Title: Payroll Manager
Pay Rate: $64,884 - $97,320 Annually (depending on experience)
Hours of Work: 7:00 am to 3:30pm (flexibility around start time between 7am - 8:30am)
Location: 27402 72nd Ave S. Kent WA 98032.
Job Summary:
Manage the daily operation of the payroll department, including multi-system, multi-union, multi-state and international payrolls. Responsible for the calculation and auditing of payroll related benefits and state, provincial and federal payroll taxes in compliance with company policies and regulatory provisions. Reports to the Controller and works closely with HR Manager. Position requires meeting deadlines, a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Requirements to be Considered for the Position:

Required Essential Job Skills/Experience:
1. Five or more years experience processing in-house payrolls for 300 employees, utilizing manual and electronic time keeping systems for a multi-union organization.
2. Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian federal, state and provincial payroll and benefit laws and regulations.
3. Strong analytical and computer skills with an emphasis on spreadsheet and database creation and maintenance in Excel.
4. Excellent interpersonal communications and supervisory skills.
5. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce or other payroll systems.
Required Essential Job Functions/Duties:
1. Oversee and supervise payroll specialist and all duties of processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. Process Canadian payroll. Calculate and pay required payroll deductions, wage assignments, garnishments, tax levies and timely tax deposits.
2. Reconcile all month, quarter, and year end reports; reconcile Federal/FICA taxes per form 941, FUTA, multi-state and provincial workers’ compensation, unemployment, state and prepare year-end payroll statements including W-2 and Form 1095C.
3. Determine eligibility for benefits and calculate and reconcile employees’ cost contribution. Prepare all benefit payments, including bargaining unit health and pension payments. Prepare monthly journal entries to record payroll transactions. Provide information for audits of payroll records by government agencies, labor unions, benefit providers and other outside auditors.
4. Improve payroll software and streamline payroll process, procedures, and improve interface with service providers. Identify issues and incorporate company policies and bargaining unit contracts language into payroll software and procedures.
5. Maintain employees 401(k) and Section 125 accounts. Calculate employees’ 401(k) match eligibility and amounts, Canadian RRSP matches and all remittance per the various bargaining unit contracts. Facilitate and track 401(k) distributions.
6. Provide periodic excel data reports for annual rate changes, contract changes and annual additional compensation information for management’s use. Complete resultant maintenance to produce all within a limited time frame.
7. Prepare and submit month-end payroll journal entries in coordination with the Finance department, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards and timely reporting.
8. Maintain and update written procedures and payroll manual.
