JOB SUMMARY
Assist dentist during examination and treatment of patients by preparing patient and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting dentist during dental procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the dentist directly at chair side with operative, oral surgery, orthodontic, and a wide range of other procedures
Perform laboratory functions such as pouring and trimming models, constructing custom trays, fabricating temporary crowns and bridges
Takes and records medical and dental history
Exposes dental diagnosis x-rays
Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment for each patient
Organizing and laying out instruments for dentist’s use
Handing instruments and other materials to dentist during procedures
Applying topical anesthetics to patient’s mouths
Makes x-rays of patients’ teeth
Making impressions of patients’ teeth for casts
Using suction and swabs to keep patients’ mouths clear and dry during procedures
Removing sutures
Make temporary crowns
Place and remove rubber dams, matrices and wedges
Apply cavity liners and bases
Place and finish composite resin restorations
Patient management during dental procedures
Practice dental isolation techniques
Inventory management and control
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited dental assistant program and licensed to practice in the state of Georgia with two to four years of experience preferred.
