DESCRIPTION: The work involves responsibility for assessing, testing, reporting and recommending appropriate remediation measures within the information security and systems architecture of Albany County end user networks and devices. The incumbent will ensure information security access management, processes and industry standards are followed and maintained. The incumbent may assist Albany County Division of Information Services personnel with identifying and troubleshooting issues relating to information security. Employees in this classification are tasked with assisting administration with internal investigations. Work is performed under the general supervision. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:
A. Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least a Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Resources Management, Information Technology or a closely related field, and two (2) years of work experience in information technology, which included, or was closely related to, two (2) of the eight (8) domains of information security; OR,
B. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Resources Management, Information Technology or a closely related field, and four (4) years of work experience in information technology, two (2) years of which included, or was closely related to, two (2) of the eight (8) domains of information security .
NOTES:
- The following are the eight (8) domains of information security: 1. Security and Risk Management; 2. Asset Security; 3. Security Engineering; 4. Communication and Network Security; 5. Identity and Access Management; 6. Security Assessment and Testing; 7. Security Operations; and, 8. Software Development Security.
- Certifications in the domains of information security, such as SSCP, CCSP, CAP, CSSLP, CCFP, or HCISPP, may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Candidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
