JOB DESCRIPTION: Elementary Extensions Program Art Instructor
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Elementary Extensions Program Art Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering engaging instructional programming that enhances core curriculum content for students in kindergarten through 5th This role requires creativity, collaboration, and a passion for fostering student learning beyond traditional classroom instruction. The instructor will work closely with grade-level teams and school administrators to develop schedules, integrate programming with academic standards, and create unique learning experiences that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Development & Innovation:
- Design and implement innovative instructional programs aligned with core content standards.
- Develop hands-on, interdisciplinary learning experiences that foster problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration.
- Continuously evaluate and refine programming to meet the evolving needs of students and the school community.
- Instruction & Student Engagement:
- Provide engaging instruction to elementary students in alignment with developed programs.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration and inquiry.
- Manages student behavior in the classroom.
- Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways, on school grounds, in other school areas away from the classroom, and on school-sponsored trips.
- Collaboration & Scheduling:
- Work closely with grade-level teams and building principals to develop effective scheduling structures.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the extensions team to co-construct learning experiences for K-5 students.
- Align programming with school-wide academic goals and priorities.
- Support classroom teachers in integrating extension program activities into their instruction.
- Professional Development & Growth:
- Stay informed on best practices in elementary education, enrichment programming, and innovative instructional techniques.
- Participate in professional learning communities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance program effectiveness.
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; strong content and pedagogical knowledge; knowledge of education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional, and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; ability to lead meetings; and ability to help groups achieve consensus.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Master’s Degree preferred); certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in Art Education.
Work Experience: Experience as an elementary art teacher is preferred. Spanish language skills strongly preferred.
Applied Experience: Experience in project-based learning, STEM, place-based instruction, arts integration, or similar enrichment areas.
Familiarity with scheduling and program coordination in a school setting.

Salary : $47,500 - $79,296
