Job Summary: The Middle School Art Teacher is responsible for cultivating creativity, artistic skills, and a deep appreciation for the visual arts among middle school students. This individual will design and implement engaging art curriculum, facilitate hands-on art projects, provide constructive feedback, and encourage students to explore various artistic mediums. The Middle School Art Teacher will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the artistic development and self-expression of all students.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with educational standards and promotes the exploration of various art forms, techniques, and art history.
Teach middle school students the fundamentals of art, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and digital media.
Foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to express themselves artistically and take risks in their artwork.
Demonstrate and teach different artistic techniques, materials, and processes, while encouraging students to experiment and develop their individual artistic styles.
Provide guidance and support to students in brainstorming, planning, and executing art projects, ensuring they understand and follow appropriate safety procedures.
Facilitate group discussions and critiques, offering constructive feedback to students to help them improve their artistic skills and understanding.
Utilize technology effectively to enhance art instruction and encourage digital art exploration.
Organize and display student artwork within the school and local community, promoting students' artistic achievements and fostering pride in their work.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and events, fostering cross-curricular connections.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, upcoming projects, and art-related events.

Maintain art supplies, equipment, and tools, ensuring their proper use, storage, and maintenance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Valid teaching certification/license in art education (state-specific).
Previous experience teaching art to middle school students, demonstrating a strong understanding of their unique developmental needs and abilities.
Passion for the arts and the ability to inspire and engage students in meaningful art experiences.
Proficiency in a wide range of art techniques and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and digital media.
