Albany Medical College seeks a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Chief of Anesthesia for Albany Medical Center. This prestigious position offers the opportunity to lead a well-established department within the Albany Med Health System, which serves as the only academic health system and Level 1 trauma center in northeastern New York.
About the Department :
The Department of Anesthesiology of the Albany Medical system supports the health system, including the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital, outpatient centers and non-operating room anesthesia settings. The department is part of the region’s only state-designated trauma center with anesthesiology services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The department includes more than 60 employed attendings and 60 CRNA faculty. Education training programs include a recently expanded residency program with 32 residents, fellowship programs in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology and pain management, and a highly ranked nurse anesthesiology program. In addition, faculty are highly involved in the instruction of Albany Medical College students in both the pre-clinical and clinical clerkship years.
Clinical Operations :
The department plays a key role in supporting Albany Med’s extensive clinical services, performing :
- On average, we staff 50 anesthetizing locations.
- Approximately 17,000 operating room cases annually in the tertiary, academic medical center
- Approximately 11,500 operating room cases annually in the outpatient surgery center setting
- Approximately 13,000 non-operating room anesthesia cases annually
