Job Description
The NP has expertise in a specific specialty area of patient care services. They are responsible for assessing and managing patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions, and developing and implementing plans of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, principles of neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology, human growth and development, and medical terminology.
- Conduct patient assessments, complete physical examinations, collect clinical data, prepare patients for tests or treatments, order and interpret laboratory test results, diagnose medical conditions, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery.
- Maintain accurate patient coding, billing, and medical reports, and inventory of medical supplies and instruments.
- Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure smooth flow of patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Ability to quickly master computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
- Must project a professional image and earn confidence of others.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
