What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Room Nurse position at Albany Medical Center?
Job Summary: The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of surgical patients throughout their episode of care. This includes during transitions within the acute care stay.
Main Responsibilities:
- Implements physician orders, administers medications to the sterile field, and documents as required by organizational policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintains standards of professional nursing.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree is preferred.
- Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), CNOR is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience is preferred in the surgical setting.

Our hybrid operating suite combines minimally invasive and interventional surgical techniques and includes 3D and rotational CT imaging.
