Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology at Albany Medical Center
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a vital role in the Gastroenterology department, applying advanced clinical knowledge and skills to assess and manage patient care. This involves conducting physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, and ensuring the quality of care for patients with specialized health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data, and diagnose medical conditions.
- Order and interpret medical laboratory test results, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery.
- Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure smooth patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
- Mentor new staff and/or physician assistant students in advanced practice nursing.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensed NP - Nurse Practitioner upon hire.
- ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support upon hire.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support upon hire.
