What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitality Management Chair (FT) position at Albany Technical College?
Albany Technical College seeks a well-qualified highly motivated individual to fill the position of Hospitality Management Chair. Under general supervision, he/she will prepare and plan for and deliver instruction to students in the Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management program. The Hospitality Management Chair will develop program syllabi. He/she will develop goals and objectives, evaluate students’ progress in attaining those goals and objectives, request and maintain supplies and equipment, prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports. He/she will attend staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences, and ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training area. The Hospitality Management Chair will meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional program and other issues.
Minimum Qualifications: The applicant MUST have a Master’s Degree in any combination of, Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Culinary/Food/Nutrition or Vocational/Occupational *AND* have education experience in the hospitality environment with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in one of the listed industries.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred applicant MUST have previous work experience within the Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism field with demonstrated *INSTRUCTIONAL* experience in hospitality management, restaurant, culinary, tourism or business, experience with Blackboard or other online learning management system *AND* one to three (1-3) years’ experience in hotel, tourism or food and beverage management desired.
Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight.
