Science Teacher, Chemistry

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Principal, plan a science program involving demonstration, lectures, discussions, and student experiments and organizes laboratory activities for optimal learning. Under the direction of the Principal, teach content in Chemistry and utilizing California State Standards. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES– E=Essential Duties Provides individual or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students and accommodates circumstances where a variety of projects and experiments are being worked on simultaneously E; instructs pupil in proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals, science equipment E; establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions, laboratory sessions, and field trips E; selects books and instructional aids to achieve instructional goals and behavioral objectives E; communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress E; participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities E; other responsibilities as detailed in the Albany Teacher Job Description E; other duties as assigned E; selects books and instructional aids to achieve instructional goals and behavioral objectives E; adapts material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils E; participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school and on the district level E Requirements: 1. Ability to work cooperatively 2. Knowledge of District adopted science curriculum 3. Current California Single Subject Science Teaching Credential with authorization in Chemistry 4. El authorization 5. Multiple science authorizations highly desirable
