Our football program has a history of competitive success and developing student-athletes who excel on and off the field.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Football Coach to lead and inspire our varsity football program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring student-athletes, a proven track record of success in football coaching, and the ability to foster a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the high school football program, including varsity, JV, and feeder teams.
- Plan and implement effective practice sessions, game strategies, and player development programs.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage assistant coaching staff.
- Promote academic excellence and personal growth for all team members.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Collaborate with school administration and athletic department to uphold program values and school policies.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes by adhering to best practices and safety standards.
- Manage program resources, including equipment and budget.
- Represent Western Albemarle High School with professionalism in the community and during competitions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in football coaching, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Mastery in and expertise in adhering to football rules, strategies, and safety protocols.
- Strong and effective organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Commitment to promoting academic success and sportsmanship.
- Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes and coaching staff.
- Eligibility to complete all Albemarle County Schools coaching requirements (CPR/AED certification, VHSL coaching certification, background checks, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous head coaching experience in high school or collegiate football.
- Teaching license and ability to fill an available teaching position in Albemarle County Schools.
- Experience with program building, fundraising, and community engagement.
Compensation:
- A stipend is provided for coaching responsibilities.
