Essential Functions
- Mig and/or Tig weld aluminum in accordance with AWS standards D1.2 and D17.1 processes GMAW/position flat, horizontal and overhead 4g.
- Tig weld stainless steel in accordance with AWS standard D17.1.
- Follow at all times proper safety procedures and wear proper safety equipment as they relate to the work being performed.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Determine the required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of welding techniques.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify Shop Manager.
- Measure work items with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Clamp, tack-weld, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
- Communicate to Shop Manager any injury, unsafe act or condition, or failure of equipment.
- Maintain the work area in neat and clean condition and ensure that materials and tools are returned to proper storage.
- Dispose of waste materials after completion of work assignments.
