POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the organization and submission of all grant applications. In consultation with the PI, will develop budgets, budget justifications, and prepare proposal packages for submission.
- Monitor all subcontracts from inception to final payment.
- Administer NIH Training Grant (T32); prepare and submit appointment and termination paperwork on XTrain. Monitor and reconcile trainee expenditures for eligibility and appropriate allocations.
- Serve as liaison between NIH T32 grants specialist, PI, Graduate Office, and Finance Office to meet T32 requirements.
- Advise Principal Investigators on federal, agency, and foundation guidelines and policy changes pertaining to grant applications. Advises faculty of funding opportunities.
- Meet with PIs to review their grants portfolio and discuss upcoming grant submissions.
- Keep track of grant deadlines and progress report due dates.
- Maintain an electronic database of submitted and funded grants for both Divisions.
- Prepare monthly summary report of grant submissions and outcomes to Administrator.
- Maintain a database of all active CCI human research protocols and all Animal Institute protocols.
- Update and maintain faculty Biosketches and other support information. Assist faculty with overall formatting of proposal for submission to agency.
- Provide budgetary and grant related information to Research Finance and other departments as needed.
- Organize and submit center grant applications (Diabetes Research Center, Center for Diabetes Translation Research, Nathan Shock Center).
- Handle post award set up for center grants, including working with the administrator and core leaders on Pilot and Feasibility project awards.
- Attend divisional and administrator meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of departmental reports.

QUALIFICATIONS
A BA/BS in business administration or other related field is required;Minimum 3 years of prior related experience in the pre and/or post award function;Strong experience working with grant budgets and applications- specifically with NIHWorking knowledge of NIH grant policies and guidelines. Knowledge of XTRAIN is preferredIn-depth knowledge of financial management principles and practices. Demonstrated competence in independent management of a large number of accounts with differing project periods. Demonstrates broad understanding of principles of financial management necessary to ensure the appropriate stewardship of university resources.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and ability to make independent decisions and effectively communicate decisions and rationale to department management.Must possess the ability to interact effectively with a large group of diverse individuals. Strong organizational abilities required. Demonstrated ability to balance workload for a number of Principal Investigators with different kinds of grants and contracts.Proficient in Microsoft Office and windows-based computer system required.

Oversee all expenditures for Centers, Grants, Contracts, and University funded accounts which total approximately $18,000,000 Responsible for successful submission of all grants and contracts. Serve as liaison with internal and external administrative personnel regarding development, management, and administration of grants & contracts, insure adherence to internal and external administrative guidelines, work closely and regularly with administrative offices and administrators, make purchasing decisions, negotiate financial aspects of contracts.Manage all pre-award functions for the Divisions of Endocrinology and Geriatrics.
