What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Paralegal position at Albert Einstein College of Medicine?
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the OGC team’s workflow in the Lexzur contract management system (data entry, reporting, training and customizations)
- Manages and maintains document library for the Einstein community; works with internal stakeholders with developing and revising policies; and ensures proper formatting, naming conventions, form creation, document control, cataloging, and website maintenance
- Reviews and negotiates contracts (primarily research and procurement contracts) under the supervision of the Senior Counsel, Associate Counsel or Assistant Counsel and ensures compliance with College policies and procedures
- Reviews and processes students’ requests for emotional support animals in student and postdoc housing
- Assists with research compliance issues
- Assists with legal research and investigations
- Gathers and reviews documents, and uses appropriate technology to prepare documents for internal and/or external use
- Remains current with regulatory topics and best practices regarding compliance within higher education
- Proactively identifies potential legal risks and liabilities and solutions
- Completes projects as assigned by Senior Counsel, Associate Counsel or Assistant Counsel which require general knowledge of legal principles pertaining to the subject matter
- Provides administrative support as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Paralegal Certificate Preferred
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience as a paralegal or comparable position
- Experience working in a higher education setting (e.g. college, university, medical school) preferred
- Experience in policy development, document management and contract administration preferred
- Prior experience with vendor contracts, scientific research and research contracts preferred
- Experience in legal research, compliance and risk management issues is useful
- Strong working knowledge of regulations governing colleges and universities
- Familiarity with standard contract provisions
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work with all constituencies with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with timeliness, thoroughness and accuracy
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, editing, and proofreading skills
- Demonstrated self-starter with an attention to detail who is both highly organized and a team player
- Skillled in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, electronic signature systems (e.g.DocuSign), and stay abreast of new technologies for managing documents
Minimum Salary Range
USD $95,000.00/Yr.Maximum Salary Range

Provides support to the Office of General Counsel for a variety of legal work and assists the OGC team with tracking work flow for pending contracts and matters. Participates in organizing, preparing and reviewing documents, with emphasis on policies, research, contracts, and research compliance.
