What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Programs - SPELL Elementary: Director, Grades 1-6 position at ALBERT F ARGENZIANO SCHOOL?
Program Goal: Summer Partners for Language and Learning (SPELL) provides Multilingual Learners theme-based language development experiences in the morning and enrichment activities provided by community partners in the afternoon. The SPELL Director will lead a team including Assistant Director to ensure health, safety, and quality programming for multilingual learners in grades 1-6.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ESL/ELL License and five years of experience in teaching English Language Learners
- Experience supervising multi-dimensional program(s) (student safety, program planning, supervision of staff, interns, and volunteers, managing supplies, etc.)
- Experience and aptitude for building and sustaining collaboration with community partners
- Experience in program development, curriculum design, monitoring student progress, and in providing professional development to staff
- Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students; maintains and responds to social and emotional needs of students and staff
- Knowledge and appreciation of cultural difference; commitment to removing barriers to equity, access, and inclusion
- Bilingual/multilingual and ability to communicate with diverse students and families
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Assistant Director and all SPELL staff
- School year job requirements, including planning and coordination time during out of school hours
- Summer School Session: Must be available for on-site support
- Must be available for required professional development
- Respond to program crisis situations and be point of contact for staff, student and families when needed
- Keep track of daily attendance and notify supervisor(s) of students with attendance concerns
- Submit payroll for staff in accordance with summer procedures
- Compile program data including, but not limited to student academic progress, pre/post testing assessments, attendance by end of program
- Ensure program clean-up happens at the end of program
- Coordinate with Assistant SPELL Director to plan field trips, pending available budget

Stipend: $6,000
SPELL program professional development for all SPELL staff will take place in the last week on June or first week of July.
Program Schedule:
July 7, 2025 – August 1, 2025
Monday through Friday
8am-1pm, 5 days per week, Monday-Friday

Director of MLE & Co-Directors of Summer Programs
