What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forestry Technician position at Albert Land Management?
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced Forestry Technician to join our team. You will play a vital role in managing and preserving hardwood forests and wildlife habitat on both private and public lands. You will be responsible for field-based work which involves implementing various conservation and sustainable forestry practices.
Responsibilities:
- Perform invasive plant species management
- Perform timber stand improvement/thinning operations
- Assist with collecting timber stand inventory data
- Assist with marking timber for harvest and overseeing logging operations
- Track your work progress with GPS
- Work as part of our team to complete contracts/projects
- Assist with general equipment and shop maintenance
Experience/Education:
Must have at minimum, a two-year degree in an environmental/natural resource-related field OR field experience treating invasive plants.
Physical Requirements:
This position is physically demanding and involves walking many miles daily, sometimes over rough/steep terrain, with 20-50 pounds of equipment/gear, in fluctuating outdoor temperatures. Candidate should be aware of the physical nature of the position and be in good physical shape/health.
Wages/Salary:
Commensurate with education and level of experience. You will be asked in an interview what you feel is a fair wage based on your level of experience. Position will likely start as an hourly position and be promoted to a salaried position after 90 days.
