The Fundamental Equities team is a cornerstone of the Public Equities team at AIMCo, managing substantial asset pools through a blend of bottom-up and top-down analysis. Our team employs a meticulous research process, integrating financial modeling with in-depth business analysis to uncover compelling investment opportunities. We construct portfolios designed to capitalize on our investment edge. This role uniquely combines portfolio management with investment research, offering a dynamic and enriching experience.Responsibilities:
As a key member of the portfolio management team, the successful candidate will be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of Canadian equity portfolios, as well as Global mandates periodically.
Typical activities involve:
Portfolio construction and analysis
Rebalancing the portfolios
Dealing with corporate actions
Cash and currency management
Monitoring portfolio exposures and risks
Idea generation and individual security research
Explaining and reporting on performance
Proactively developing new ideas with the Fundamental Research team
Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders and partners to achieve common goals
Our Ideal Candidate:
Post-secondary degree in a relevant field along with a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
10 years of experience in the financial industry, preferably on the buy-side (asset management) with a recent focus on the Canadian equity market
Experience researching a broad number of companies and sectors utilizing inputs from financial modeling, valuation techniques, and a variety of due diligence practices
Experience with Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, Expert Networks, and trade order management systems (i.e. Charles River, Aladdin, Bloomberg TOMS)
Knowledge and application of portfolio management, trade life cycle and execution, and risk management concepts
Experience managing large portfolios and knowing how to deal with capacity and liquidity issues
Experience of working with ESG data and integrating it into our fundamental research process
