As the successful Candidate for Associate Private Debt & Loan, you will play a key role in the execution of AIMCo’s Private Debt strategies. The AUM of the PDL program is currently approximately $8 billion. The program continues to grow both investments and team size globally. Supporting the overall efforts for the PDL platform, you will contribute to AIMCo by concentrating on investment execution and portfolio management covering a broad spectrum of private credits.You will interface with PDL’s internal and external partners, assessing investment opportunities, driving due diligence including thoughtful and thorough analysis, managing deal process and closing / funding transactions as well as on-going portfolio monitoring and reporting.
Successful Associates across the Private Debt & Loan team share many of the same characteristics. You are self-starter, who is skilled at building relationships and committed to driving deals to a successful close. You are also known for your finely honed financial analysis skills and superior excel-based modelling abilities. Additionally, you are known to support your colleagues through challenges and enthusiastically celebrate team accomplishments.
Responsibilities:
Assessing preliminary credit summaries and Information Memorandums to evaluate prospective private debt opportunities; reviewing and interpreting key facts to outline credit considerations, potential risks and key due diligence focus areas
Performing credit and financial analysis and industry/competitor/company research
Building, maintaining and reviewing complex financial models and preparing sensitivity analysis with a focus on debt servicing and credit statistics
Reviewing and synthesizing third party due diligence reports
Attending meetings with management teams, private equity investors, due diligence providers/consultants and debt advisors
Participating in discussions regarding investment opportunities within investment committee approval meetings; preparing credit memos for final approval as well as internal memos to deal files
Contributing to the portfolio accounts monitoring and reporting
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or another related field
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in Investment Banking (M&A or Leveraged Finance preferred)
Advanced analytical and technical skills, including debt structuring and financial modeling
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Detail oriented, professional, and collaborative team player
Stellar interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and sound judgement
High degree of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
