What You Will Be Doing

The HR Director will lead and manage all HR functions supporting their client group, ensuring alignment with the emerging and dynamic environment. This role involves developing and implementing strategies that support the business goals, fostering a high performance and positive work culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about building culture, attracting and developing top talent while driving excellence. You naturally seek out diverse and inclusive opinions when faced with issues, which has also helped you create a strong foundation for fostering a culture of teamwork – and you know building an intentional culture is key. You're strategic. You want to give your company a competitive advantage by fostering performance management, org design/development and succession planning.

You know how to leverage data to create effective plans that impact results, and you use data to analyze your decisions and evaluate how you’re moving the needle on culture and people-related strategies. You understand that an HR leader's job is about creating a fantastic associate experience, and you work hard every day to ensure that associates are at the center of your decisions. Your corporate campus is your local team, and you partner with other HR leaders nationwide and other functions to achieve the best results. You're an expert at identifying strong talent and you are fanatical about helping associates connect their goals to the goals of the company. You have a vision for leading and developing your team, and ensure you keep yourself in touch with your own development opportunities by seeking out learning in all its forms and always asking for feedback.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho or Dallas TX.

Main Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a culture centered around driving a fantastic Associate Experience through driving the people and culture-related strategies for your business units, including Diversity and Inclusion, Associate Engagement, Talent Management, Training, Education, Compensation, and Compliance Management.
  • Identify and implement local actions to drive retention and engagement
  • Partner with corporate HR & COE’s on strategies on Talent, Learning and Development, Diversity and Inclusion and Total Rewards.
  • Serve as an integral member of leadership team and as the lead HR Partner to business functions officers.
  • Participate in your business units’ strategy process by seeking solutions to business challenges, identifying specific skill and resource requirements, developing organizational structure, and aligning HR programs and practices to business objectives.
  • Drive organizational change by assessing culture, climate, and motivation, and provide leadership and consulting on change management initiatives and organization design.
  • Drive succession and career planning process for your team including assessing current leadership bench depth, making recommendations on readiness and potential for promotion.
  • Lead coaching, counseling and support of senior management on all people-related matters.
  • Lead and develop HR team to be talent and culture experts.
  • Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law and human resources
  • Implement and oversee processes that ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Asset Protection and Legal on internal investigations
  • Manage and coordinate all compliance charges and formal litigation, working with both in-house and outside legal counsel.
  • Influence and drive One Best Way HR practices across the organization.
  • Ensure effective delivery of education curriculum and partner with L&D on strategy for current and future training and development needs.
  • Work with corporate functional areas to ensure effective execution of all corporate policies and practices for your team, including compensation and benefits plans.
  • Utilize HR Technology systems to utilize data, manage performance, and enable the business

What We Are Searching For

  • Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills including the ability to simplify complex problems.
  • Effectively communicates to all levels of the organization using diplomacy and persuasive skills.
  • Candidly and constructively speaks up even when it's difficult to do so.
  • Proven experience in managing teams including ability to provide direction, understand resource capability and successfully drive results working with direct reports, dotted line and/or internal or external resources.
  • Positively motivates others to accomplish goals, provides honest feedback in a constructive way.
  • Self-motivated, assumes personal accountability for results and performance.
  • Demonstrated track record as proactive trusted advisor/thought leader in an organization, particularly around strategic issues to drive results.
  • Balances the needs of multiple stakeholders while maintaining strong executive level partnerships.
  • Demonstrates the highest levels of ethics and policy compliance at all levels.

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in human resources, business, or other related fields; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years HR related experience where consulting, culture, performance management, training, general understanding of employment law, compensation and benefits, organization capacity and general human resources skills have been gained.
  • Retail (multi-unit), Supply Chain and Manufacturing experience preferred
  • 5 years driving talent and culture, backed by metrics and data
  • 3 years people leadership experience.
