What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Services Technician position at Albertus Magnus College?
Essential Functions:
- Work effectively to accomplish the building HVAC and plumbing requests and needs of the College Community.
- Daily visual inspections on all buildings mechanical equipment.
- Proactively address equipment maintenance to reduce breakdown and extend the life of mechanical systems.
- Work with outside contractors as needed.
- Identify areas of concern in various buildings.
- Actively involved in major College functions.
- Other duties as assigned, including snow removal.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of experience in HVAC, plumbing or related experience. Ability to effectively interpret written and verbal instructions. Good verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required. Basic practical knowledge of several maintenance trades with special emphasis on building maintenance.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Three to five years experience in HVAC, plumbing, or related experience.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. and heavy carrying up to 50 lbs. Long periods of time spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. Ability to reach above head. Ability to climb ladders. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a variety of tools.
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. The hours are from 7:00 am-3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This position is on-call for after hours.
