Albright College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track Instructor of Education in the School of Education. This position is designed for a dynamic and experienced special educator with a strong background in teaching and a commitment to preparing future educators. Position Highlights and Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
A master’s degree in Special Education from an accredited university (terminal degree preferred).
Certification in Special Education (PK-12), with a strong preference for Pennsylvania certification.
Experience:
Minimum of three academic years of PK-12 teaching experience in U.S. schools.
Proven expertise in working effectively with diverse student populations and students with exceptionalities.
Preferred experience supervising pre-service teachers or working in higher education.
Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality, evidence-based instruction in both in-person and online settings.
Knowledge of current trends, research, and practices in general and special education.
Strong commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
Responsibilities:The Instructor of Education will:
Teaching and Course Development:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Education and Special Education, both in person and online as needed.
Develop and update course content to align with state standards, program goals, and best practices in the field.
Advising and Mentorship:
Serve as a faculty advisor to teacher candidates in the Special Education and/or Graduate Education programs.
Provide academic guidance and support to students, helping them succeed in their programs and professional endeavors.
Supervision and Field Support:
Supervise pre-service teachers during their fieldwork, practicum, and student teaching placements.
Offer constructive feedback and mentoring to support their professional growth.
Collaboration and Service:
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, program accreditation, and assessment efforts.
Contribute to departmental and institutional service through committee work and other initiatives.
Professional Engagement and Scholarship:
Stay current in the field by engaging with research, professional organizations, and local educational communities.
Contribute to the academic community through workshops, presentations, or publications.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:
Actively promote an inclusive learning environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
Demonstrate cultural competence in supporting students from varied backgrounds.
Appointment Details:
This is a full-time, one-year, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor of Education.
The position may be renewed based on performance and institutional needs.
