Albright College is seeking applications for Medical Assistant. This position is responsible for performing a variety of secretarial duties and technical support for the Health Center and Counseling Center.
Essential Job Functions:
Follows the orders of MD and CRNP as written and directed by the provider
Assists MD and CRNP with procedures
Maintains and orders supplies
Provides patient education as needed
Answers telephones, schedules appointments, fields questions for the MD and CRNP
Triage patients and measures vital signs for MD and CRNP
Maintains instruments
Performs Phlebotomy
Performs monthly medication checks and biannual inventory report
Calls prescriptions to the pharmacy as ordered by the MD and CRNP
Charts appropriately in-patient chart
Maintains patient gowns and health center laundry
Prepares a variety of reports using departmental guidelines including the monthly statistical report of health center activities listing the number of patients seen, immunizations administered and laboratory tests performed.
Compose, type and distribute departmental correspondence
Maintains a departmental filing system in support of departmental activities and medical records
Types letters, memoranda and correspondence as needed
Submits claims for insurance reimbursement
Emphasis on basic recordkeeping, payroll and patient voucher submission, maintenance of appointment schedule. Works with aspects of an electronic medical record.
Schedules lectures and conferences for MD and CRNP
Maintains the highest level of confidentiality in support of the Gable Health Center and Counseling Center
Assists in the training of Health Center staff
Performs other directly related duties as assigned
Performs duties as related to a medical assistant within the guidelines of a medical assistant scope of practice. This includes attention to detail of the spelling of patient names, medications, chief complaint and the completion of paperwork for the ordering of tests.
Qualifications/Prerequisites:
COMMUNICATION
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of constituents
Ability to speak publicly and communicate ideas effectively to groups for various training initiatives
SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to utilize word processing skills and/or data entry techniques
Ability to adhere to confidentiality practices as they relate to the medical profession; familiarity with HIPAA compliance and the Buckley Amendment
Knowledge of health care practices
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in phlebotomy skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and willingness to work with an electronic medical record
Attention to detail is essential
Must be able to prioritize work efficiently
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years of related work experience
Versed in confidentiality practices as they relate to the medical profession
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalency; Associates Degree preferred
Completion of course work related to medical assistant responsibilities/mental health terminology/medical terminology, Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred
