Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the overall theatre program for the campus and district. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular theatre activities and ensure compliance with all state and district requirements. Plan and administer theatre activities in accordance with campus and district expectations. Plan and prepare to provide students the opportunity to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- ESL Certification preferred or ESL Certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of diverse genres in dance
- Able to produce, create, and choreograph dance and other performances
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Instruct students daily in diverse styles of dance and prepare them for school and community showcases.
- Ability to work with small groups or whole groups to achieve student mastery of concepts taught.
- Differentiate instructional approaches to meet the needs of all learners assigned.
- Able to collaborate with other staff members to produce annual drama showcases.
- Successful delivery of the theatre and dance TEKS appropriate to elementary students.
- Incorporate technology as part of the learning experience for all learners.
- Ensure that students are prepared for school-community showcases to further develop their skills and showcase abilities.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Keep informed and comply with all safety precautions pertaining to music supplies and instruments.
Communication
- Present positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
- Establish and maintain open communications by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Articulate the district’s mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needs.
- Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and board policy in the music area.
Policy, Reports, and Law
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Keep informed and comply with all district guidelines for music.
- Attend all district required meetings as requested to review, create, and revise music curriculum, policies, procedures and activities.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- The employee is expected to adhere to district employee/department/campus handbooks, board policies, AISD procedures, the district Code of Conduct, the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics and all applicable laws.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assigned teacher aide(s) and student teacher(s).
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2025-2026 Salary Schedule
Minimum teacher salary is $64,100
2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule
Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
Certified teacher sign-on bonus:
Certified Teacher - Any field - $4,000
Special Education Teacher (Self-Contained Assignment) - $5,000
Bilingual Certified Teacher - $5,000
Certified Teacher with existing TIA Designation - $8,000
Bonus payment delivered in two (2) installments-50% (9/30/25), 50% (9/30/26)
Sign-on Bonus eligibility ends July 17, 2025
Salary : $64,100
