Summary
The Think Summer Department at Albuquerque Academy seeks responsible and energetic student workers to assist faculty and administrators involved in the Think Summer program. This is a temporary position for the 2025 summer session, taking place June 9, 2025 - July 18, 2025. There will be additional dates required for training before the summer session begins. All applications are due by February 21, 2025 and no late applications will be accepted.

Essential Functions and Job Duties by Role
Camp Counselor
Engagement and constant supervision of campers.
Transporting campers between classes and activities.
Organizing group activities including sports, crafts, and games.
Assisting with recreational swimming; up to 2 hours daily.
Assisting in sports specific instruction as applicable.
Assisting camp directors with tasks as assigned.
Outdoor work environment required.
Teaching Assistant
Assisting teachers with camper supervision and classroom management.
Collecting and handing out classroom supplies and materials.
Transporting students to and from classes and pick-up locations.
Providing individual or small group tutoring as necessary.
Administrative tasks such as making copies, grading papers, or visiting Think Summer office. .
Office Aid
Assisting Think Summer administrators with tasks as assigned, including: answering phones and emails, making copies, delivering supplies to faculty, transporting students, and providing customer service to campers and families.
Other tasks include supervision of campers and communication with parents, faculty, and administrators.
Technology Information Systems
Assisting campus computer technicians with various tasks including inventory, and hardware/software installation and updates.
Library
Counting and organizing current inventory.
Collecting books and putting them away in proper shelf or fixture.
Assisting bookstore or library staff with other tasks as assigned.
Heavy lifting and cleaning is required.
Desert Oasis Teaching Garden
Planting, harvesting, weeding, watering in the garden.
Preparing food boxes for donations.
Seed saving and inventory.
Heavy lifting and outdoor work environment required.
Physical Plant
Assisting facility services department with assigned tasks such as painting, and moving furniture or equipment.
Working with equipment such as hand tools, shovels, and wheelbarrows.
Heavy lifting and outdoor work environment required.
Job Qualifications
Education
Students currently attending high school or college are encouraged to apply. College students may also qualify for faculty positions dependent on skills and experience.
Experience
Previous work experience is not required.
Prior experience babysitting, working with children, or in a camp setting is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work well with people, especially adolescents.

Working Environment
Depending on the role, duties are performed indoors or outdoors.
Hours are generally from 7:50 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extensions for before and after school care programs. Partial days are available.
Additional required events may take place outdoors and may extend into pre-school hours or the late afternoon/evening.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency. Involves long periods of standing/sitting. Frequently involves carrying classroom supplies, communicating/speaking, retrieving files and supplies, writing and reading.
