What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Education Instructor position at Albuquerque Adult Learning Center?
Interested in a job in the Adult Education field? The Albuquerque Adult Learning Center (ABQ-ALC) is recruiting Adult Education (AE) Instructors for openings that may become available this spring. We are seeking dedicated AE Instructors to teach students who are pursuing their high school equivalency (HSE). The class cohort consist of adults who are operating at the National Reporting System (NRS) Levels 3-6. The instructor will hold daily class sessions on HSE topics (integrated ELA, math, and writing) on Mondays - Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m. The instructor will hold additional hours for student check-ins and tutoring support. The instructor will be familiar with assessments such as the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and the official HiSET or GED practice tests.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach HSE topics in an in-person environment
- Advise and guide adult students to enable self-directed learning and self-advocacy of students’ own education
- Ensure that all curriculum and classroom practices meet College and Career Readiness Standards
- Facilitate, in partnership with the adult student, student-specific learning plans that align with student goals, ABQ-ALC approved curriculum, and beneficial programs currently available for enrolled students
- Administer testing instruments, such as TABE progress/post tests and HSE practice tests virtually
- Contribute to primary and secondary student goal requirements to meet HED/state grantor targets
- Be aware of and follow all grant guidelines as well as ensure delivery of any and all grant specific outcomes (i.e. completion rates).
- Self-advocate and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
- Advocate and foster good rapport with students, staff, and community partners
- Will maintain close communication with all other staff members
- Assist the Educational Director with instructional, curricular, and administrative tasks or activities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
