What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless?
Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.

Our ideal candidate would be a team player and have previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting with underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must.
Our DA team works in rotating schedules doing Outreach work in the field and in our Clinic. We work from a harm reduction model and believe in meeting people where they are at. We view patient care holistically and work in a multidisciplinary fashion to connect our patients to various resources within our organization and without. Minimum Qualifications:
- Background in medical or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Flexibility to work with multiple providers
- Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification
- Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed philosophies
- Bilingual or Spanish Speaking
