What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless?
Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.

Our ideal candidate would be a team player and have previous experience in an underserved population. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must.
Our MA team works in rotating schedules doing Outreach work in the field, in the Clinic, working at our Clinical Front Desk, and on designated Administrative shifts. We work from a harm reduction model and believe in meeting people where they are at. We view client care holistically and connect clients to various resources within our organization and without. Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
- Flexible work schedule
- Lab experience
- Vitals experience
- Experience in patient scheduling and patient rooming
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a primary care setting with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed philosophies
- Experience working with an EMR
- Spanish Speaking
