SUMMARY : Maintains irrigation systems and programs automatic watering devises and maintains backflow prevention assemblies.
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation :
- Troubleshoots all components of automatic irrigation systems.
- Repairs all types of irrigation piping to include PVC, poly pipe and galvanized materials.
- Repairs various types of automatic and manual irrigation valves, sprinkler heads, fixed spray and rotor heads, and drip irrigation systems.
- Performs minor maintenance on automatic irrigation controllers and maintains low voltage wiring systems.
- Inspects, tests, and repairs all types of backflow prevention assemblies.
- Installs irrigation systems in updating and corrective construction projects.
- Installs, programs and operates irrigation controllers and centralized computerized controllers for automation and troubleshooting of systems.
- Performs occasional water audit of irrigation systems.
- Programs controllers for proper water application based on water audit results or field calculations.
- Operates testing equipment such as pressure gauges and electrical meters.

The incumbent will work with various APS staff members in a team environment including the administrative staff, State Department personnel, APS legal counsel, parents, students, advocates and others outside the district.Frequent interactions with people in person and on the phone will be necessary.Travel from location to location will be necessary.Duties are performed in various locations throughout the school district.The employee must be able to work in all types of environments indoors and outdoors where various hazards are present including weather, hot and cold conditions, slippery and wet surfaces, chemicals and construction materials, and various power sources and radiant energy.PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation :

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE : The minimum requirements for this job are as follows :
High school diploma or equivalent.Valid New Mexico driver's license with insurable driving record.Valid JMS-6 Irrigation license; and Backflow Prevention Technician's license.Satisfactory completion of approved craft related training.REQUIRED APS PRE-EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS :
Satisfactory completion of criminal background verification.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : The minimum expectations for this job are as follows :
