What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESOURCE TEACHER: SPECIAL ED (SEALIP) position at Albuquerque Public Schools?
A Special Education Alternative License Induction Program Resource Teacher will develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate / assess educational professional development for teachers, administrators, support personnel and community members. They will provide expertise in IEP implementation, specially designed instruction, inclusive practices and classroom supports to provide staff development in collaboration with Special Education Department Leadership, District Leadership, and Departments within APS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Essential Functions : An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation :
- Provide mentorship and support to teachers on an alternative license throughout the district at all levels.
- Support staff working with students on an IEP to provide access to grade level standards, as well as interventions in the least restrictive environment.
- Assist staff with developing data based interventions and the analysis of student data to help them make instructional decisions based on student performance and student needs.
- Plan and facilitate professional development for special education initiatives, programs, and specialty areas using evidence-based practices.
- Provide high levels of expertise and support in core content, pedagogy, and evidence based practices, specially designed instruction and inclusive practices.
- Provide coaching, modeling of lessons and / or strategies for staff.
- Advocate for student achievement and quality instruction in alignment with IDEA, NMAC, MLSS, district goals / strategic plan, and procedural directives.
- Collaborate with the special education department, other APS departments and schools to regularly gather feedback and analyze needs for professional development across the district.
- Collaborate with schools and departments to meet APS board goals and strategic plans.
- Gather data to evaluate the impact of professional development on student achievement and professional practice
- Provide information to schools on current materials, instructional strategies, professional development opportunities and all applicable standards.
- Support the department(s) with research, review, ordering, revision, and analysis of curriculum tools, high quality instructional materials, and resources.
- Plan and facilitate school and community workshops as assigned.
- Serve on district committees and task forces as designated by the supervisor.
- Provide support with other special education related needs
- Perform other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by the supervisor.
