Essential Functions
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation
- Generating and maintaining a master list of all routes and trips
- Maintaining current, organized files on each route; ensuring that all files include information needed to describe the route, contract details, program details, school information, maps, vehicle and driver assignments, passenger lists, etc.
- Assisting Drivers with routing directions and communicating special service requirements
- Assigning activities and special trips to Drivers pursuant to established policies and procedures
- Notifying the Student Transportation Department of all changes in route assignments, emergency situations, accidents, break-downs, or any other event disrupting service
- Maintaining route compliance
- Coordinating vehicle service schedules with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure uninterrupted service on assigned contracts
- Maintaining current list of all available Cover Drivers and spare vehicles
- Assigning Cover Driver to routes when regular Driver is absent
- Coordinating emergency response network when there is a problem on a route.
- Submitting required reports and paperwork to Location Supervisor in a timely manner
- Encouraging compliance with district policies and procedures; discussing any breach of policy or procedure noted with Location Supervisor
- Exercising discretionary judgment as necessary to ensure that routes and trips are performed safely and on-time
- Becoming thoroughly familiar with the bus fleet assigned to the location
- Ensure appropriate, accurate routing materials are developed and available to the Drivers
- Monitor on-time performance.
- Document and manage customer or employee complaints.
- Prepare and submit requires reports in a timely manner.
- Help train or test new driver candidates.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of routing and local area / streets
- Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook; and Transportation applications or other routing software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Mapping and routing skills
- General math skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a consistently fast-paced environment
- Well-developed multi-tasking skills and time / priority management skills
- Bilingual preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a driving position. Bus driving position preferred.
- Current Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsement or obtained within 60 days.
- SBDI or State Examiner certifications obtained within 1 year
