The HR Generalist will support the Human Resources team with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including responding to employee needs, onboarding new employees, administering and educating around benefits and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This person should be dedicated to providing robust and thoughtful service to employees, maintaining and improving HR processes, and participating in Alco’s mission of providing quality affordable homes, and quality jobs for the long term.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsiveness & Customer Service
• Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, and leave; occupational health and safety; and training and development of HR processes for staff.
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Conduct employee eligibility verifications and unemployment requests.
• Manage the HR inbox with a high-level of trust, integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Perform other support duties across the Talent Team as assigned.
Processes, Procedures, and Systems Support
• Assists in the onboarding and exiting process for staff.
• Supports new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
• Assist with Payroll administration.
• Become Paycom expert to support Director, HR.
Compliance
• Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and compliance.
• Support audits and regulatory compliance of HR tasks.
Benefits Administration
• Support yearly Open Enrollment process.
• Support development of open enrollment communications and education.
• Assist with benefits awareness campaigns for staff each month.
• Assist with the systems and integrations for each provider through Paycom.
• Learn and support vendor billing.
BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred or equal experience
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
Experience and Skills
• At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
• At least five years full-time, customer service oriented work experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
