What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembler/Forklift position at Alcom of Florida?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Assembler is responsible for performing all tasks involved in the production of aluminum trailers. All Production Workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of Production. Position offers on job training. Loading finished trailers on flatbed, drop deck, and ramp commercial carrier trailers. Properly secure all outgoing loads while keeping pace with shipping demands. This position works outside, loading mostly flatbed and drop deck tractor trailers.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Loads finished trailers and parts for scheduled shipments.
- Operates forklift, yard tractor, and material handling equipment in and around the warehouse.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the yard.
- Utilizes available loading straps, wood, and dunnage to secure loads properly.
- Ensures compliance with all safety policies and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn.
- Works with the Shipping Yard Lead to ensure proper load documentation is provided to each driver.
- Performs basic preventive maintenance on all equipment in the yard, including tractor, lift truck, and various fall protection equipment systems.
- Review freight orders to identify potential issues to avoid delays in shipping.
- Loads and unloads shipments and pallets, as may be required.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous hands-on experience with tractors, vehicles, forklifts, and boom lifts is strongly preferred
- Previous hands-on experience with a variety of power tools preferred
- Previous experience rigging desired.

- Must be able to work outside year-round in all weather conditions.

- Must have advanced rigging and load securement skills.

- Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with crew and outside drivers.
