POSITION: Material Handler
STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Purchaser
DIRECT REPORTS: None
LOCATION: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and moving material throughout the factory, warehouse, stockroom and general premise and assists production operations and other staff as necessary. This includes the receipt, storage safety, quality, productivity and accuracy relating to all internal movement, receipt and issuance of materials.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pulls/replenish parts, raw materials, and other production related items. Delivers to appropriate areas as required
- Operates forklift, pickers and material handling equipment in and around warehouse
- Pulls parts, raw materials and other production related items. Delivers to appropriate areas as required
- Wraps/unwraps material as necessary for storage or production needs
- Properly record transactions and mark/identify material/product
- Loads/unloads shipments, pallets, etc.
- Deliver necessary items from receipt or manufacture point to final storage location avoiding bottlenecks in movement
- Moves both scrap and trash as needed.
- Support high emphasis of safe practices
- Cross-train and provide necessary support for all warehouse practices
- Recommend improvements to gain efficiency in materials movement and storage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 1 year previous experience in a material handling.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret tape measure.
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standard situations.
- Above average interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict amicably.
- Ability to communicate issues verbally and in written form.
- Above average time pressure of decision making.
