What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Planner position at Alcona County Commission on Aging?
Summary: Under the general direction of the ACCOA Board of Directors and the ACCOA
policy guidelines, the service provider has the responsibility of maintaining an efficient
performance of the duties assigned by the ACCOA Board of Directors and its Executive Director
adhering to the personnel policies and procedures of the ACCOA Board of Directors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members and prospective members
Planning process which includes booking, weddings, sporting events, showers,
graduations, family reunions, etc…
Planning and coordinating all events for ACCOA seniors (crafts, bingo, games, special
events)
Produce monthly calendar of events
Work with Kitchen Manager/Fitness Coordinator as needed for events being held
Be present at events to make sure they are going smoothly
Coordinate indoor/outdoor events with the facilities crew
Keep Executive Director in the loop of all events taking place
Collect payments/down payments for events and submit them to the Accounting Clerk
Order supplies as needed for special events
Coordinate Facebook and Website content for ACCOA/Sunrise Center events
Work with Grant Funded programs that will take place in our facility

Qualifications:
Knowledge of and access to local resources
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
CPR/First Aide Certified (Can get certification through ACCOA)
Must possess good verbal and written communication
Must have passion/motivation for working with community events
Must have reliable transportation with insurance
No felony convictions (State Police Background Check)
Great customer service skills
Must be proficient in calendars
Must maintain confidentiality of clients and vendors
Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, and agency databases.
Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time
Must be able to lift objects 45 lbs
Position may include some local travel.
Ability to effectively communicate or relate with staff and the public in a
professional capacity and provide service in a culturally competent manner.
Educational Background:
High school diploma/GED
Business Degree a plus, but not mandatory
Two years of Event/Engagement planning
