Summary:The Chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation is responsible for leading the department's academic programs, administration, and personnel. The incumbent oversees undergraduate and graduate degree programs, strategic planning, and establishes productive relationships to achieve departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Develops and enhances instructional programs in collaboration with faculty members.
- Manages course scheduling and faculty teaching assignments for optimal distribution of time between teaching, research, and extension.
- Works with faculty to upgrade courses and curricula to ensure graduating students are nationally and globally competitive.
- Develops effective student recruitment and retention strategies in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Liaises with the private sector, government agencies, and professional associations.
A Doctor of Philosophy in an HPER Discipline or related field of study, 5 years of teaching experience at the college or university level, and qualifying experience for at least the rank of Associate Professor in the Area of Specialization.
