Job Summary
The incumbent supervises and mentors students from first-generation, low-income, and disability backgrounds, ensuring their safety, engagement, and development during a three-week (June 15 – July 2, 2025) residential summer camp on and off campus. They foster a supportive environment while guiding students in leadership, academics, and postsecondary preparation.

  • Experience working with Middle and high school students in an educational or camp setting
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with camp staff and support campers
  • Ability to supervise students, enforce rules, and maintain a positive camp environment
  • Basic conflict resolution skills to address minor behavioral concerns
  • Willingness to follow directions from camp leadership and assist with various duties
  • Willingness to stay overnight in dorms and serve as a responsible mentor and supervisor for students
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in managing daily camp activities and unexpected challenges

Essential Job Functions
  • Supervise and engage with campers during daily activities, meals, and free time
  • Serve as a residence hall assistant in assigned dormitories, ensuring campers’ adhere to curfews and dormitory rules
  • Assist in organizing and leading recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
  • Conduct headcounts and always maintain awareness of camper locations
  • Address minor conflicts and behavioral concerns, escalating issues to the Lead Chaperone as needed
  • Provide encouragement and support to campers, fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Assist with logistical tasks such as meal supervision, activity setup, and cleanup
  • Enforce all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure experience for all participants
  • Chaperone educational and cultural activities/ field trips
  • Serve as a mentor to Talent Search participants

Qualifications
Candidate must be at least a rising Sophomore with a GPA of 3.0. Two (2) years’ experience working with at-risk/disadvantaged students.
