Job Title: Educator, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (Warren Hinds and Madison)
This position is an exempt role.

This is a full-time employment opportunity within the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
Summary
The Nutrition Educator will be responsible for recruiting participants for classes and marketing the EFNEP Program in the county. The educator will teach adult lessons using curriculums that focus on nutrition, food preparation, food safety, meal management, and physical activity. Youth lessons will focus on eating healthy and increasing physical activity.
The educator will also be responsible for collecting evaluations and regular reporting to the Program Specialist. The EFNEP Educator will work under the guidance of the MSU Nutrition Education Assistant Director.
Key Responsibilities
The Nutrition Educator will:
Organize and follow lesson plans to engage audiences through innovative educational methods such as videos, mobile apps, and electronic publications in addition to traditional publications, visual aids, and in-person presentations.
Implement and evaluate nutrition education programs that focus on nutrition, food safety handling practices, food shopping skills, and active lifestyles in the Warren, Hinds, and Madison County areas.
Demonstrate written and oral communication skills to effectively deliver educational programs, events, and activities.
Demonstrate knowledge in operation of computers, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet.
Provide research-based information and demonstrate adequate understanding of subject matter.
Organize work and use effective teaching tools such as recipes and demonstrations for adults.
Participate in relevant conferences and in-service training on nutrition topics to improve knowledge and skills.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Three or more years of experience in food preparation and nutrition are required.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are necessary for year-round travel to conduct educational programs, events, and activities.
The educator must live in the county of service provision (Warren, Hinds, and Madison Counties).
